i love action shots!
i get a thrill out of trying to frame the shot while the body, or horse, car, ball, etc is in motion. i love to feel the energy through the athlete's body or face.
this past winter i got to shoot some pictures of my friend Rachel and her teammates at a couple of their high school rodeos.
here's what i love about the rodeo: behind the pageantry, the fancy boots and shirts, and the beautiful horses; there is a whole other world. it's a world of dust, sweat, strength, determination and honesty.

About a year ago, my friends John and Margaret Dowalo introduced me to Rhonda Hallden, an amazing woman who founded the Husky Haven in 1982 (www.huskyhavenofla.org). John and Margaret adopted their beautiful dog Duchess from here and in the process, John, who is an independent filmmaker, made a wonderful short film about it. You can check it out at www.inspiredfilmworks.com. John began making short YouTube videos of the dogs available for adoption and asked if i would join him and take still shots to go on the rescue's website.

Had a fun fun day shooting engagement photos for my friends Ellie and Jared and their son Ambrose!
We met at Garden's of the World in Thousand Oaks, only to be turned away as we didn't know we needed a "reservation" to shoot "posed" pictures ~ that's okay... everything happens for a reason!
We wound up at the Chumash Indian Museum and Park just up the road, and it turned out to be a much better venue for this hiking, outdoor life-style family!
Everyone was maybe a little self conscious at first, but quickly relaxed and had fun.
